A Male Birthday Card

I have to start off this post by apologizing for being away from my blog for such a long time. Life just gets really busy sometimes and you have to neglect some stuff and this time it was my blog. Anyhow, I'm sharing with you guys a birthday card I did for my Fiance, yesterday was his birthday. And like I have mentioned before creating male orientated cards are difficult for me. I like to use flowers and bling. So I decided to use my new DCWV Summer Indian fall stack. They have some very cute patterns in that collection that aspire more for male orientated projects. Since I went with the striped paper that had all the fall colors in it, I used my Martha Steward leaf stamps to emboss them on distress green paper that I cut out and adhered to the card. Using the same paper I embossed happy birthday cut it and used dimensionals on them. It still looked a bit unbalanced so I put eyelets and brown hemp through the eyelets and waa laa the card was done. This time I also decorated the inside of the card but since I have already written my message to my finance, I can't show you :-). Sorry maybe next time.

On a side note, I'm making my first mini album. I'm like 75% done with it. Can't wait and to show you guys. And also I'm making some Halloween treats for my little cousins, boy do I have a lot of them.

Anyhow, till next time. I hope it's sooner than later.

A Card Sketchbook

Hello everyone! Life is a bit hectic at this moment. Been busy with HW and unwinding from family camping trip, that went well. But I'll try to post more often. Today I'm sharing a sketchbook that I made. I got the idea from Kristina from kwernerdesign, I will put up her link to her blog. I loved the idea of making a sketchbook for cards, and also you can download for free the interior pages as a PDF file. How cool is that. Thank you Kristina. I used Ivory paper as my cover and I distressed it using Tim Holtz ink. I used a stamp set from CTMH for the swirls, that are in brown. The tag is also from a CTMH set, and I stamped that using distress ink and cut it out. I added prima flowers and in the center they have pearl bling. I used pop dots to make it 3-d. And lastly I attached a very small piece of ribbon using glue dots. I wrote in the tag "Celina's Sketchbook", but I'm not satisfied with it. I think I need to redo it. I recommend that everyone make a sketchbook, especially if you lose your "mojo" from time to time, like me. Or if you give away your cards and are trying to remember what it look like. You can always refer to your sketchbook and look for it. It is very helpful if you are new to the card making. I hope you guys like it.

Well I hope life is well for all,

Celina
P.S. I forgot to tell you that the second pix is the inside of my sketchbook, sorry. Oh and Kristina's link to her blog is www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/ . I think that all, :-).

Another Birthday card!!

Hola a todos (hello to everyone),

Today is my little cousins birthday and she is a pre-teen. So I made her this card using the new Indian Summer collection from DCWV. I used one of my favorite papers from that collection. Its a really nice collection to have for this Autumn, because it has tons of purples, turquoise's and pumpkin orange in the collection; I really like it. I will be making tons of cards with this collection, especially Halloween cards or projects. I also used prima flowers in orange and I rubbed some distress ink on the flowers to try and make them less vibrant, but I don't think I was that successful. I stamped my cousins name on the pumpkin orange paper and stamped the "Sweet birthday wishes" on it too and distressed it using Tim Holtz. I also distressed the outside of the pumpkin orange card. I used purple rhinestone brads for the center of the flowers. Well I hope you guys like the card today. It's off in the mail now but it won't get there on time, since my cousin lives in LA county.

Well till next time,

Celina

P.S. Leave me any questions or suggestions of things you guys would like to see.

A New Birthday Card

Hi guys,

I have a birthday card to share with you guys. I made this card for my friend Luz's birthday party but I forgot to take it, so I will drop it off at her house this Friday since her birthday is not till Saturday. I used my Silhoutte machine to cut out the swirls. I used my Martha Steward circle cutter for the brown circle. I also used Prima flowers in yellow and teal, I made them look old by using Tim Holtz Distress ink. (I'm soooo in love with these distress inks. I recently picked up some new colors that I will use soon.) The "Luze" are chipboard letters that were actually in different colors, and I used versa mark with bronze embossing powder them all the same color. I used a nail file to rub some of the bronze tone off and I think it looks good. I rubbed distress ink on the card to make it look aged, too. The only think I do not like is the "happy birthday" part. I did not have a big happy birthday stamp so I had to hand write it in and I do not like it. What do you guys think of it? Be honest, no hurt feelings. Hope you guys like today's card.

Till next time,

Celina

Corner bookmarker

I made this corner book marker for my fiance. He is such a bookworm by choice, where I am by obligation... Anyhow, I found how to do this bookmark on this website, check it out. It has directions on how to do this bookmark and other really cool projects www.pinkpersimmon.com/tutorial_bookmark.html . My attempt was to make this book marker using more manly tones. I have a hard time making manly looking things. I'm so use to using flowers in what I create. I used Kraft paper and bone color paper. As well as Tim Holtz distress ink to make it look aged. I stamped the bone color paper using a world stamp. I also stamped Bon Voyage using versamark and then sprinkled Bronze embossing power and melted it using a heating tool. Well I hope everyone likes it. You should try to work with elements that are hard for you, this will help you get better at them. I hope to share a girly looking corner book marker soon. Hope all is well....

A Wedding Card!

So I have been MIA for a while but school is really taking alot of my time. It seems like the "deeper" I get into school the more time it requires. Anyhow, I'm sharing with you guys a wedding card. We are actually going to a wedding today, I know on a Wednesday, different huh. It's actually my fiances brother, he is getting married today. So I did a quick card using alot of Tim Holtz product and distressing. I chose these earth colors because I think wedding cards should be neutral nothing to scandalous, but to each it's own, right. Anyhow I hope you guys like the card. Let me know if you guys have questions...

A new 12 x12 layout

Greetings everyone,

I haven't had much time to let my creativity juices flow lately. I am super swamped with homework. So I am sharing a layout that I made a few weeks ago. Sometimes I just get going on layouts without having pictures in mind, that's why this one doesn't have a picture on it. I am planning on adding a black and white picture of my fiance and I once I do some editing to the pix. When I showed my sister the layout she said it reminded her of cinderella's carriage, and then I realized it does. What do you guys thing?

I made this layout by using my silhouette die cutting machine to cut out the swirls and the circles, I used bling to put on the tips of the swirls, red and black prima flowers, and bling brads. I also used black ink on the edges of the swirls to make them look aged.
Leave a comment on what you think about the layout.

Have a great day!

A zesty zebra pencil holder...

Hello again,
Today's project is a pencil holder. I purchased a bunch of these purse shaped pencil holders at a local dollar store. I used a zebra print paper from paper pizazz that I purchased from Joann's. The side of the pencil holder is actually red velvet paper that I also purchased from Joann's. I'm not sure on the maker since I cut the label and can't seem to find it -:). I used 5/8" grosgrain ribbon in black and white. The prima flowers are in white, red and black. The brad is from making memories jumble pebble brads collection.

I basically traced each side to its corresponding design paper and cut it out. I then used matte finished mod podge to glue the paper to the pencil holder. Once the glue had dried, I sand it using a nail file. Then I proceeded to the next side. I guess you could do the two larger sides at the same time and then the smaller sides. Once the pencil holder was dried, used Tim Holtz Frayed burlap Distress Ink to make the red velvet look ages and I ended up rubbing it on all of the edges of the pencil holder. I then embellished it with the ribbon and the flower. I have made more of these that I will eventually share with you all. I hope you guys like this project. If you guys have any questions or comments please share them with me.
Thanks,
Celina

P.S. I think this would also make a cute gift card holder with some tissue paper.

P.S.S. Maybe you guys are wondering how big the pencil holder measures, it's about 3.5" x 5".

My first Sympathy Card

I will begin my first post with this sympathy card that was also the first sympathy card I have ever created. I used this stamp from paper inspirations, called watercolor cone flower ( G9731) that i found at a store up in Oakhurst called The Cats Meow (http://www.catsmeowstamps.com/). They have a huge selection of rubber stamps from all kinds of vendors, which is what I like because I'm an equal opportunity shopper. The sentiment actually came from a rubber stamp I found at the dollar tree. I was hesitant to buy it but it works great. You do have to prep it up a bit with some versamark ink before putting the desire ink and it will ink better. In this case I used the Tim Holtz distress ink vintage photo. I wanted a semi faded look to the card which I think vintage photo ink provided. To add the glitter I used some scotch clear glue with 2-way applicator. I absolutely love this glue because it's photo safe and I like the two way applicator. It's precise enough to get small amounts and huge enough when you need to glue a bigger piece. I put some glue on the center of the flower and then sprinkled gold glitter on to it. I did one flower at a time to make sure I didn't get on anywhere else. I stamped it on Kraft color cardstock and adhered it to brown Bazzill paper. Well I hope you guys like my card. I will post another card soon. If you have any questions you guys can email me. Thanks... Celina
